What are All on 4 Implants?

All on 4 is a Bali dental care technique that replaces teeth using a lower number of implants with a removable acrylic over-denture. This treatment is also know as “click-in, click-out denture. There are two characteristics of this treatment:

– You may need as few as four implants. The traditional approach of full mouth implants for teeth replacement involves between eight and 10 implants per jaw for fixed porcelain over-bridges. However, with the All on 4 (implants) + removable acrylic over-denture, you will often only need four implants. Sometimes five or six may be required on the upper jaw because of lower bone density.

– Optimum strength is achieved due to angled rear implants. As opposed to vertical insertion, the implants at the rear are inserted at 30 to 45° angle. This means that even if you have experienced bone loss you should be eligible for this procedure without having to go through the lengthy and costly process of having a bone graft.

Consultation

If you are interested in this type of teeth replacement treatment, the first step will be to have a consultation with the oral surgeon or Implantologist you have chosen.

You will discuss the treatment plan and the All on 4 cost in Bali, for your procedure. During this consultation, the dentist will carry out a 2D digital panoramic X-ray and evaluate your mouth and jaw bone. This will enable them to determine your suitability for implants. The Dentist will assess the density of your jaw bone to see precisely where the implants should be inserted. They will discuss any alternative treatment options with you before you commit to anything. This ensures you are fully aware of your options.

If you are a suitable candidate for this procedure and subsequently go ahead with the treatment, dental impressions will then be taken. These are sent off to a lab so that your new healing denture can be designed, so that it looks and fits just like natural teeth. There are some dentists that have technology that enables them to map out your current teeth without taking impressions using putty. It is not uncommon for x-rays to be taken so that this can help your dentist to plan your treatment.

Surgery

In terms of the surgery itself, if your teeth must be extracted before implants are put in, this may or may not be done on the same day. Your dentist will usually provide a sedative so that you can relax during the procedure. You will not experience any pain. ARC Dental Clinic uses a high quality local anaesthetic (4% Articane Hydrochloride) with Epinephrine and can offer you oral sedatives for anxiety relief. Next, your mouth will be cleaned thoroughly so that any bacteria and damaged tissue is removed. The dentist will then drill two holes at the front of your jaw to hold the front implant. There are then two holes at the rear of your mouth, one at either side, which will be angled so that you have the maximum amount of support.

Your mouth will then be cleaned again once the implants are placed. Any incisions will be stitched up and a following appointment scheduled for check-ups and stitch removal.

Some dentists may provide you with a temporary over-denture and this is then replaced a few months later. This temporary denture will usually be made from resin, which is a light but less durable material. It will put less pressure on your implants during the healing phase. It can also be used as your final denture.

After a minimum of 3 months whilst waiting for the osseo-integration of bone and titanium, you can return to Bali for the completion of the treatment. You can leave it much longer between visits depending on your availability to travel – up to 1 year is quite acceptable.

The second visit to Bali will see the completion of your treatment. Another 2D digital panoramic X-ray will be taken to determine bone integration. Once the implants have been deemed successful, the final stage will begin. We will either manufacture a new acrylic removable over-denture or use the existing denture you are happy with. The connectors will be addedd to the implants and the denture and you are ready to “click-in, click-out”!

After-Care

You may experience general discomfort, including some swelling and bruising, in the days that follow your dental surgery, yet this is mild. A lot of people like to take some days off work simply so that they can get used to their new teeth and recover fully. Your dentist will advise you on what you can and cannot eat after your treatment. It is likely that you will need to eat very soft food within the first few months because you don’t want to disturb the process of your bone and the implants fusing. You could also be advised to stay away from any heavy exercising and smoking for a while. You can clean these implants just like you would clean your normal teeth, i.e. brushing them in the morning and evening and being careful to remove and food debris and dead skin cells around the implant sites.

Final Checks and Fitting

You have a final check and fitting from 3 to 12 months after your original dental surgery. Your removable acrylic over-denture denture will typically be made from resin based materials. If you are careful and look after your new false teeth properly, then they should last you for a minimum of 10 years with an annual re-lining. You will need to visit your dentist for regular maintenance and checkups. Whether these visits are an added expense or they are included in your treatment plan is something that you should discuss with your dentist.

Why All on 4?

When you compare our Bali dental care treatment with regular full mouth dental implants, you will easily see why it has become so popular to have the All on 4. With the usual approach, you will typically need around 8 to 10 implants per jaw for a full set of replacement fixed teeth. This means that sockets need to be drilled into the jaw wall for both procedures, however, All on 4 requires fewer implants. This makes the All on 4 cost in Bali more affordable and budget friendly.

When you have All on 4 dental implants in Bali, you will typically get the temporary denture fitted on the same day and then permanent denture (removable) will be added a few months later.

You also need to consider the eligibility factor as well. All on 4 dentures are suitable for some patients with bone loss. If you decide to go for standard dentures, then there are certain foods that you will need to avoid for the rest of your life. Whereas All on 4 dentures only have very few eating restrictions and with the implants connectors, there is no need for the large piece of acrylic in the roof of your mouth. Food will taste better too! Plus, with All on 4 dentures, they help to maintain the bone.
